Moderate temperature (20°C - 30°C), well-distributed annual rainfall (2000mm - 2500mm), high relative humidity (65% - 90%), good sunlight and elevations of 500-1000 meters above sea level are most suitable.

Well-drained, organic matter-rich, deep loamy soils are most suitable. The soil pH should be between 5.5 and 6.5. Good drainage and adequate nutrient levels are important.
